Business Lessons

• You’re never alone – someone else is always going through what you’re going through
• Make mindful choices and make choices based on the life that you want to have
• Talk to other people who have done what you want to do
• If you want to quit your corporate job to teach yoga, plan as much as you can in advance
• If you want to own a yoga studio, think about if you want to own a business
• Spend time to find a good location for your studio
• If you are planning retreats, find out where people want to go before you put down a down payment
• Find out what your students are looking for – what you would want might not be what they want
• The business side of owning a yoga studio is just as important as knowing how to sequence a class
• There are a lot of highs and lows being a business owner
• Hire people to help you with the things that you can’t do yourself – like an accountant and a lawyer
• If you are a new yoga teacher, get experience as soon as you can!
• Find studios to teach at that resonate with you
• Practice visualization – vision boarding, goals, etc.
