While yoga is still very much a niche activity and yoga studios don’t yet adorn the corner of every street, there is still plenty of competition out there for a young startup like yourself. You want to hit the ground running, set up a new, fresh brand of yoga and have a studio to match. However, there are many yoga studios out there with loyal attendees who won’t simply swap their current yogi for you. How is it possible to compete and secure business for your studio? Take a look at these three simple ways that could help your studio become the go-to place for yoga classes.

Offer More For Less

A simple rule of thumb to follow is offering more for less, at least initially while you set up your studio and find your feet. If you head into the market with an expensive range of classes that are shorter than the ones provided by your established rivals, you cannot expect many people to sign up. Instead, start by offering taster sessions for free. These don’t have to be hour-long sessions and could even be just fifteen minutes long for potential attendees to get a flavor of your studio and teaching style. You might want to offer nibbles and drinks and combine your free session with a launch party to show off your brand. Ensure that your timetable of classes is on hand to give to people who show up and ensure that you offer competitive pricing. Allow potential yoga students to sign up for classes in blocks to get a discount. They may have paid a little less, but you have them at your studio rather than at a rival’s for at least ten weeks.

Get The Tech

As a young startup, you might want to look to technology to give yourself the extra edge. Think about developing an app that allows clients to sign up for classes, communicate with their yogi directly and pay for their sessions. By making the customer experience less effort and more in line with the twenty-first century, you could attract a more youthful demographic. As QA testing stops bugs getting into your app, implement a testing safety net to ensure your app is fit for purpose. Crashing apps give a poor impression and may even turn some potential customers away. Maintain a blog, keep your social media channels updated and encourage positive interaction with your clients.

Open Longer

Do your research. If the yoga studios in your area are closed on a Sunday or only provide evening classes, do something different. Stay open all weekend and provide classes in the mornings. This way, you can tap into a niche that has never had access to yoga in your local area before. Keep an open mind and try to be a little different to your competition.

It can be difficult to establish your business when other seemingly successful yoga studios are constantly busy, and their classes are full. However, there will be a market for your startup; you simply need to find it, tap it and exploit it.
