If you’ve already set up a yoga business, then you’ll know that it’s far from a walk in the park. There are challenges that other businesses just don’t need to compete with: what can feel like a sea of competition (even though we’re all on the same side!); the difficulty in finding new customers; and then, of course, keeping the ones which we already have on continuing to return. However, you do have one thing on your side: your energy and enthusiasm to make your business a success. Below, we take a look at five things you can do to maximize the success of your yoga business.
Think Like a Business Leader
Yoga is about spirituality, learning to know yourself and the world around you, and improving your physical condition. It can only be just those things for your customers: you also need to be looking at your business “in the real world”, by which mean looking at it through the eyes of a business owner. While it’ll be what you offer and how good you are that ultimately determines your success, you’ll be well served by adopting the practices and mindset of traditional business owners.
Find Your Angle
As we mentioned above, there’s a lot of competition out there when it comes to yoga. If you want to stand, then, you’ll need to…make yourself stand out from the crowd. Finding your niche or unique angle will help your marketing and help you to hone in on your intended audience. This doesn’t have to be anything too crazy (skydiving yoga, anybody?); it’s just about bringing your own thoughts about the activity to your business. If people like it, they’ll choose you over other companies.
Get Involved in the Community
We talk about competition, but as we said in the first paragraph, everyone’s on the same side when it comes to yoga, and there are plenty of resources that’ll help you connect with others. If you haven’t yet participated in a yoga trade show, get in touch with Moose Exhibits and make yourself part of the program. It’ll give the chance to show the world what you’re all about, and at the same time learn what other people in the industry are doing.
Know Thyself
Have you heard of SWOT before? You hear it in the business world all the time. It stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats, and it’s the lens you should be looking at your business through. Once you have an understanding of what you’ve got nailed down to a T, and where you need to improve, you’ll be on course to make your business the best that it can be.
Be the Inspiration
Remember, people will be coming to you because they see in you something that they want to have for themselves. So while it can be a challenge managing all the tricky components of a yoga business, it’s imperative that you stay true to who you are. In the end, your business will be the best if you’re not weighed down by its pressures. Namaste!
