Keeping Habits Sustainable & Learning More About Them

Habits. We all have them, no matter who we are. They contribute to a large portion of our life. Depending on your daily activities, you will arrive at different results. For example, someone eating ten cheeseburgers a day as a habit will often arrive at supremely ill health. Someone who runs every morning for twenty/thirty minutes will likely enjoy much better health, provided they know when to take days off. After all, the famous quote attributed to Aristotle – ‘“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit,” has never stopped being relevant, despite how old it is.

Keeping our habits sustained can be another question entirely. The new year has recently passed, so it’s likely you know this. Are you still sticking to your new year’s resolutions? If so, congratulations, that’s a fantastic step in the right direction! If not, don’t blame yourself. We are creatures of habit, and sometimes replacing old habits require us to pursue the new ones with all of our strength.

Another great way to keep our habits fresh and well developed in our minds is to learn more about them. For example, let’s say you begin a ketosis diet. If you do this, you will need to learn plenty about it to keep it interesting, and to make sure you’re on the right path. The depth that unveils itself will renew your interest with each day or week, and this allows the habit to continually stay novel in your mind. Here are some tips to keeping your new habit a fixture of your life:

Make It Fun!

Your habits are not grim duties to be carried out. They are allies and friends, provided you have chosen good ones in your life. Making hobbies fun allows you to work with them rather than against them. Let’s take the example of a run. Running is hard, especially when you first begin. It can be easy to forget why you’re doing it, especially in the middle of a particularly painful run. However, making this process fun by running with a friend, taking scenic routes, listening to good music and also breaking down the run into chunks can work well. After all, why run three miles when running to the next parked car, and then that lamppost, and then that restaurant could help you cognitively break it up? Habits are daily, and winning the day allows you to win the habit with ease.

Express Your Efforts!

If you hope to learn more about your habit, then express your efforts! Reading plenty of articles online about it, joining a community regarding it such as a reddit forum or a dedicated Facebook group could put you in touch with people who can inform you. Why not run a blog or website dedicated to it also? You could monetize this in time, and make it a hub for other people like you also trying to learn more that activity. Just make sure you professionally develop this. If you’re unsure of how to do this, you could looking in using a service, such as kentico website. As you progress in your journaling attempts, you will learn more about yourself than ever before, because what better than a challenge to make you pursue your ambitions?

As you go forward however, before to attribute your success to yourself and yourself only, as you deserve to feel proud of yourself! You’ve got this!
