Who You’ll Need to Grow Your Business

It’s not easy running a business, as everyone who starts one finds out sooner rather than later. One of the best gifts that business owners can give themselves is a willingness to work with other people. They might think that they can build their company all on their own, but this isn’t true. Some people get lured in by the myth of the solo entrepreneur and think they do things by themselves, but who do you need in order to grow your business? We take a look at some of those key people that should be in your tribe below.

Your Ideal Customer

One of the mistakes some business owners make is trying to target everybody. They figure that the more people there are who are aware of their company, the more business they’ll get. It sounds plausible, but it’s misguided. It’s much better to figure out who your ideal customer is, and then focus on them. This should be done during the market research part of your business development, since it’ll help influence your business decisions. For example, it’ll guide you towards how to brand your company, the products, and services you sell, your marketing, and so on.

Your Staff

You have some skills, and they’re going to come in handy. But you don’t know everything, or anywhere close to it. If you’re going to make your business as good as it can be, then you’ll need to hire people to do those jobs for you. While the hiring process is important, it’s your leadership that’ll determine whether the staff member is a success or not. If you hire them to do something, then let them get on with their job — you must avoid micromanaging your team. It’ll only hold your company back!

Other Companies

Of course, in the early days of your business, you won’t have the budget — or perhaps the need — to hire full-time employees for every position. This is where other companies can come in to help you. They’ll have the know-how and expertise needed to ensure that your company is as good as possible. You can hire Vertex for your IT needs, for example, or an HR firm to handle your payroll. In general, it’s a good idea to outsource those jobs that are either too complicated or too time consuming for you to manage on your own.

Friends and Family

Behind every great business person is a loving family and friends group. It’s not easy running a business — it takes up a lot of your time and energy, and it can be stressful from time to time. When the going gets tough, it’ll be the people closest to you who will help to bring you back up, and offer encouragement.

The Best You

Finally, remember that your business doesn’t just need you — it needs you to be the best version of yourself. Look after yourself, push yourself forward, and know when to ask for help, and you’ll ensure that you’re doing the best that you can do for your business.
