This week on the podcast I am joined by Anastasia Shevchenko who is the founder of the Berlin Yoga Conference. Anastasia was born in Ukraine, grew up in Canada, and is now living in Berlin. Anastasia has been practicing yoga since she was a teenager and after years of practicing and teaching, she wanted to expand her offerings and bring the yoga community together with the first ever Berlin Yoga Conference, which will be happening in 2019.
On this episode, Anastasia shares where the idea for the Berlin Yoga Conference came from, what it’s been like creating it – finding a space, finding teachers, setting the schedule, marketing the conference and selling tickets, etc. – and what she’s learned through her yoga business and through the Berlin Yoga Conference.
Enjoy!
Business Lessons from this Episode:
- A daily practice can be incredibly powerful for healing
- You want to make sure that you have a connection with the studios that you are working with
- Once you have been teaching for a while, you can be more selective and ask for a higher amount of pay
- You need to think yourself as a product as a teacher and think of your offering as an energetic exchange (usually done through money)
- People who relate to you will come
- The biggest thing to figure out when it comes to planning a big event is where. This will also be your biggest cost.
- Set up a certain way of doing things and be very clear on your values – these will guide you as you plan your event
- Approach people who you want to be a part of the event and see if it resonates with them
- Take your time and don’t be rushed, especially when it comes to the research phase of what you’re doing
- Big events are a lot of work!
- When it comes to finding teachers, you need to know what you can offer and how much you can pay and then you have to start talking to people and see who is a good fit for what you are trying to achieve
- With your schedule, you want to make it diverse and find teachers who can offer all sorts of offerings
- Don’t be afraid to connect with people and reach out to people!
- When you find your people, nurture your relationships with them
- You need to learn how to deal with people, even when you’re more introverted
- Make sure that you provide a great experience with everything
- Provide a taste of your product or service – something like a pop up class or event!
- And much more… Here’s the episode!
