Do you dream of teaching other people your passion? Do you want to inspire other yogis to become teachers?
Erin did too, and over a year ago she made this dream a reality.
“I had so many doubts and worries that I wasn’t good enough,” she confided in me.
Erin Evans is a badass yogi, mother, and member of the community in Banff, Alberta. She seems to balance just as well on her hands as she does on her feet, and since I met her in the summer of 2014, I’ve been in awe of her ability to both practice and teach yoga. So, naturally, I was surprised to hear that she had ever doubted her ability to teach other yogis how to be teachers.
After taking 6 yoga classes, Erin decided she was going to be a teacher. She set out to teach without even taking a yoga teacher training. Having taken a teacher training and remembering how terrified I was to teach for the first time, I couldn’t help but feel impressed by her ambition and badass-ery.
Teaching without a teacher training? You’re crazy, girl.
Erin eventually took a teacher training, and began teaching part-time, yet she was held back by the idea of what she should be doing. She felt the pressure from her family, friends, and society to be something more than a yoga teacher. Sound familiar?
It wasn’t until a bad accident nearly took her life that Erin realized that life is simply too short not to live your dreams.
Since then Erin has been a full-time yoga teacher.
Early on in her teaching career, she realized that she wanted to share her passion for teaching with other yogis, yet she felt like it was simply a dream and not something that would ever become a reality.
She was held back by doubts of not being good enough, not being “yogi” enough, and not knowing enough about yoga.
As if.
In 2014, she was given the opportunity to create a YTT-200 program, and live out her dream. Now she has completed 3 programs, including a 30-day intensive program in India.
Curious what it took Erin to fulfill her dream of becoming a yoga teacher teacher? Listen here.
