This week on the podcast I am joined by Vanessa Rosler, the founder of All You Can Yoga. Vanessa joined me all the way from Miami, where she is currently based, to share how she got into yoga and becoming a yoga teacher, where the idea for All You Can Yoga came from, what the brand is, how she’s grown it and much more.
In this episode, Vanessa shares what it’s taken to build a global yoga brand, the business lessons she’s learned along the way, as well as tips for new yoga teachers.
Enjoy!Business Lessons from this Episode:
- All You Can Yoga runs their trainings in English, Spanish and Dutch.
- Find your purpose. Vanessa Rosler (nee Birnbaum) discovered she wanted to promote yoga education and make it more accessible to the world after teaching donation-based classes while travelling through South East Asia. Her main product is a 200-hour yoga curriculum program and graduates from her curriculum are known as All You Can Yoga ambassadors and leaders.
- All You Can Yoga began as an online community, where yoga teachers around the world could share the times, locations and styles of yoga they were teaching. More than 5000 teachers signed up for free. Vanessa had to rethink her business plan and decided to shut down the online platform and start again. She and her partner developed a 200-hour yoga curriculum for teachers with more than 5 years’ experience, they can customize the program and share it with their own communities. The business model is based on a fixed price and commissions are paid when someone is signed up.
- All You Can Yoga also helps teachers by teaching about business models and costs through their teacher training courses where you can also learn how to run your own yoga school.
- One of All You Can Yoga’s missions is to take away the shame about charging for your classes, they handle any payment problems for you.
- In their 8-week online program, one of their modules is about the legal aspects, how to charge for their classes etc.
- Only 5% of graduates go on to teach yoga, most just want to deepen their practice.
- You have to cultivate a flexible mind over a flexible body and be willing to make changes.
- Invest in a coach or a mentor and take the time to evaluate and revisit what you’re doing.
- If you’re having a rough time or in a challenging time, ask yourself if you still believe in your intention/philosophy.
- Yoga teachers should record themselves teaching. It allows you to practice your own classes which will give you an opportunity to modify.
- And much more… Here’s the episode!
