On this episode of the podcast, yoga teacher and studio owner, Jeff Mah joined me to talk about his journey as a yoga teacher and everything he’s learned along the way. He also shared what he’s learned as a yoga studio owner.
Business Lessons
- Have a mentor – someone who can guide you and help you through your yoga journey
- Get exposure to all sorts of different studios, audiences, and people
- Be careful who you get into business with – owning a yoga studio is a business!
- If you’re buying someone else’s business, know what you’re getting yourself into
- Know the city and market that you’re opening a yoga studio in
- Be realistic about whether or not your studio can survive in your market & set yourself up for success
- Have a good lawyer who can read all of your paper work (all of it!)
- Use people you know to help you – builder, contractor, decorator, etc.
- Have a solid team of people to help you – accountant, studio manager, web developer, graphic designer, business coach, core group of teachers that you trust
- It’s not good enough to just be a good yoga teacher to run a good studio
- Don’t send an email if you want to teach – show your face!
- And much more… Here’s the episode!
