In this episode, we talk about the value of websites and top tips for creating your website as a yoga teacher. Susanne shares the top things to include in a great yoga website, as well as what to avoid.
Business lessons from this episode:
-
No matter the service, people are looking for solutions and answers online. As a yoga teacher, you should have a website as a place where people can find you, see what you offer, and take next steps to connect with you. Social media is great, but it doesn’t remove the need for a website.
-
There are lots of great platforms that allow you to create a great website for yourself, so even if you don’t think of yourself as a techy, you can create a great website for yourself without paying a ton of money.
-
Remember that your website is for your visitors to learn about you. Don’t make it to craft, complicated, or creative. It should be easy and simple for people to find key information about you.
-
Having high-quality photos of yourself is very valuable for your website. Paying for a professional yoga photo shoot is a better investment that paying for a logo or website design.
-
The most important pages to create are:
-
-
An about you page that tells people more about your background
-
Schedule/events showing where people can find your classes
-
A blog, where you create posts to show your expertise
-
A contact page
-
-
There is a balance to using photos on your website. If the resolution is too low they don’t look good, but if the resolution is too high your website will not load quickly.
-
The writing on your website matters a lot. Even if you feel you’re not the best writer, you can quickly learn the principles by paying attention to websites that you like. Keep track of examples of the writing on websites you like and practice adapting it to your story and brand.
- And much more… Here’s the episode!
