This week on the podcast I am joined by Renee Clair from Clair de Lune Yoga. Renee is a yoga and meditation teacher who is passionate about helping yoga teachers build their teams in order to offload tasks and accomplish their dream goals. She’s a yoga teacher who works for yoga teachers by recruiting multi-talented yogis, and this is exactly what we’re going to talk about on this episode of the show!
Renee shares how she got into yoga and how she combined her background in recruiting with helping yoga teachers hire great people for their teams. We talk about why it’s important to hire, how to figure out who we want to hire, what tasks we want to offload, and much more.
Enjoy!

Discussed in this episode:
- How Renee found yoga as a way to help with anxiety and depression and why she actually walked out of her first yoga class
- Making a transition from corporate work to working in recruiting and in the yoga community
- Check out the book Renee mentioned “No Mud No Lotus” (https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00LDYFFNY/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1)
- As a yoga professional, how do you know when you should be looking to hire to get some help?
- How do you figure out your budget for hiring someone and know when you’re reading financially?
- Potential roles that might be valuable for yoga teacher entrepreneurs:
- Social media manager
- Virtual assistant – who can handle lots of your communications
- Community manager – someone who can reply to social media messages, help you facilitate and courses you’ve created or communities you’ve built
- Why we have so many great opportunities in our network that we tend to overlook
- When you’ve found a couple of good candidates, how do you interview to find the right person
- The STAR method – When you ask an open-ended question, you want to guide candidates to explain the situation, the task they were responsible for, the action they took, and the result that came from it.
- An example of a question would be, “Can you tell me about a time that you had to solve a problem you didn’t know how to solve at work?”
- One question that is tough to ask when you’re interviewing, but is very helpful is to ask the candidate, “what is your asking pay rate?”
