No matter how grounded, present and mindful you are… time can often feel like it’s slipping away at a rapid pace; indeed time can often feel in short supply, particularly if you are juggling running or setting up a business with looking after a family.
As a culture, people seem to be more time starved than ever before, and we all feel the need to be doing much more than we used to – and perhaps, today, we have more to do, for example just a decade ago, you would not have been glued to social media posting in order to promote your yoga business.
This is an incredibly precious resource, that is ever depleting, and for this reason it’s more valuable than money, as with time, once an hour has been consumed – it’s gone forever – and there’s no way of getting that hour back.
Therefore, where you invest your time determines the quality of your life.
We all want to squeeze the most out of life and therefore, when it comes to business, we need to be as efficient and productive as possible, with regard to how we use our time.
- WORK REMOTELY
If you have a full time job, or even a part time job, see if you can work from home, or at least in a way that enables you to work flexible hours; as this way you will own your own time.
- RELY ON A TEAM
Most entrepreneurs feel the need to do everything on their own and the idea of delegating important tasks can be quite a scary prospect… yet, any successful entrepreneur will advise you to be supported by a fantastic team, as success in business, tends to be a team effort.
This is particularly pertinent if you are thinking of building a Yoga Based App, or website, which requires some specialist skills in terms of software development and when you consider just how overwhelming the amount of CI/CD tools are, it can be a lot better to outsource such tasks to a team of professionals rather than attempt to do it yourself – as this way you are leveraging the years they spent learning about software development, rather than you having to invest your time learning about something new.
- THE PARETO PRINCIPLE
The Pareto Principle, commonly referred to as the 80/20 rule suggests only 20% of your activities will account for 80% of the outcome; meaning 80% of the tasks you have on your to-do list are likely to be inefficient uses of time.
You therefore need to determine the 20% of tasks that are critical to getting the result you seek, as often we get consumed with reacting to things that we lose focus and forget to prioritize the tasks that make the most amount of difference.
The best way to go about this is to write a list of all the tasks you have for that day, week, or month and determine which of these are high priority tasks that are likely to have the most impact on your productivity.
