This week on the podcast I am joined by Trina Altman. Trina received her training through STOTT PILATES® and is an E-RYT 500. She’s the creator of Yoga Deconstructed® and Pilates Deconstructed®, which take an interdisciplinary approach to foster an embodied understanding of yoga and Pilates and their relationship to modern movement science.
On this episode of the podcast, we talk about Trina’s journey as a yoga and pilates teacher, her approach to movement, anatomy and yoga, how she took her business online, what she’s learned through her journey as a yoga teacher, and much more!
Enjoy!
Business Lessons from this Episode:
- Say “yes” to find your “no” when it comes to teaching and your career
- Break things down into manageable chunks when you’re trying something new
- Every time you do something new it’s going to be challenging and have growing pains
- Have a support network of people around you is really important
- When you meet people, get their contact information or add them to Facebook so you can stay in touch with them
- Share what you’re doing online and with your students
- Hire someone to help you with things that are outside the realm of your capability
- Be a consumer / customer of the product or service that you are offering – you need to take retreats and trainings and private lessons before you can offer them
- Know your own body
- Take as many movement classes as possible
- Remember that when you’re working with people, every body is different and we need to treat them that way
- There is no one correct way for people to move since their bodies are completely different
- Teach things that are in your wheelhouse and remember that you don’t have to be everything for everyone
- And much more… Here’s the episode!
